Beat Mountain

Creating a vinyl series based on sample libraries with their roots laying in different cultural backgrounds.

Sampling a whole Culture

Starting in Japan, an isolated island which is rich on culture. After collecting samples, various artists (including me) started to produce sounds and beats based on that library.

After finishing the first record I designed the Logo, Vinyl, Slipmats, Packaging. Trying to keep it clean and used cultural fonts like Hiragana, Katakana, Cyrillic.

Germany

Since I grew up in Germany, this was my second choice. Germany also is rich on culture since everybody knows about Bavarian Oktoberfest and so on.

That photo was shot in the woods of Wittgenstein where my parents live now. It captures the richness of forest we do have here but still also showing the fences and the German approach of building boundaries.

Mother Russia

Being born as Russian made it my third choice. My father has a large vinyl collection based on artist from Russia which has been used for this sample library.

That shot has been made in Siberia, Russia where parts of my family live now. All in all became a great and interesting project for all participating artists and listeners.
